What kind of manager do YOU have?
Let's get real for a moment.
Are they building you up, or holding you back?
Here's a quick comparison:
Bad Manager:
• Cancels or skips 1:1 meetings
• Micromanages you, constantly checking your "status"
• Takes credit for your work or speaks over you
• Says, "Can we speak?" with zero context
• Gives you no exposure to leadership
• Provides feedback quarterly or less
• Ignores your work-life balance
• Fails to provide clear goals or expectations
• Dismisses your ideas without consideration
• Avoids addressing team conflicts
Good Manager:
✓ Prioritizes 1:1 time and your growth
✓ Fully trusts you to manage your time
✓ Encourages you to speak for your work
✓ Says "Hi and why," setting the context
✓ Enables you to be seen by leadership
✓ Provides regular feedback, when needed
✓ Supports your work-life balance
✓ Provides clear goals and expectations
✓ Values and considers your ideas
✓ Actively resolves team conflicts
You deserve a manager who invests in your growth and well-being.

1:1s are a leader’s greatest stage. Handle them well, and that employee will likely spend a lot more of their time moving things forward for you.
So have them often. Be genuine. And let them do the work.
